At first glance, you see a sleek, geometric composition. Four striking hexagons in red, yellow, blue, and black contrast with a refined green honeycomb grid, giving the image the dynamism of an abstract design or a strategic game board. Behind this mathematical aesthetic, however, lies an organic and poetic story, for this artwork is the visual translation of the journey a honeybee undertakes.
The refined background grid of small hexagons represents the iconic structure of the beehive, the architectural foundation in which her life unfolds. The fully green-colored planes form the actual, organic path of the bee and show the specific cells where she has flown, built, or left behind her precious nectar. During this journey, the large hexagons function as crucial landmarks and transformations. They symbolize the natural sources of her work: the bright red and blue of the flowers she visits, the golden-yellow pollen she collects, and the deep black that stands for a moment of rest in the shadow of the hive.
What begins as an abstract pattern turns out, upon closer inspection, to be a living and tangible account of a beautiful natural process.
